We can say without any exaggeration that coastal style or ocean and beach style as well as yachting style is one of the main integral part of modern interior design mainstream. Coastal style has wide interpretation: from noble patterns of yacht interiors to mediterranean villas, famous hotels and ocean fairy-tales theme in children's interiors. Any of interiors can be created in the mood of "ocean wave", but we prefer home offices, studies, libraries, WC, bathrooms, nurserys, patio as well as public interiors like bars, clubs, restaurants and so on. Unfortunately ocean and beach style is used too much and as a result many ugly interpretations are produced. But fundamental ideas of ocean style are very strong, resistant and have clear aesthetics. Therefore mass market with rough vulgar replications don't prejudice to the ocean style. I think that the first reason of coastal style durability is immemorial roots of water theme in humanity history. Water just as ocean is a source of life and divinity. Marks of water, waves, streams, drops and rain, rivers are exist in all cultures of human civilizations.

Thus coastal style or ocean and beach style is always in premium-fashion )) Coastal style is always elegant, fresh, full of salty sea-breezes and sunshine, nautical adventures. Ocean style has wealth of details and varieties like infinity tints of sea water: from sea foam color to cosmic indigo of sea-depth, from tranquil turquoise to sapphire boiling sea, from liquid gold of sunset to pearl sunrise.

Ocean theme looks like whole a symphony, but sometimes it can sound like separate striking notes expressing ideas of courage, energy, travel, adventures, freedom, discovering and so on. Coastal style is conventional with male interiors of private offices, billiard rooms, libraries and boy's bedrooms but could introduce new lush details into "female" interiors of WC, spa, bedrooms, sitting rooms as well.

I suppose in these days we have prevalent criteria of sea or coastal style interior design:

- coastal or sea style (the same rule applies to yacht style) should stay vivid and natural for harmony developing ideas of original source - first of all - nature;

- working on color gamut of interior it is recommended to use natural colors like golden sand, umber, ochre, primrose, bronze, azure, indigo, aquamarine, tints of beryl, nephrite, calaite, opal, tints of chocolate, cinnamon, saffron-yellow or marengo, pearl-grey, lime-color and, ivory white ect. You can achieve brilliance effect including vivid juicy details associated with the color of tropical flowers, fruits and fishes: chartreuse, emerald-green, lemon, carmine, vermilion, lilac and violet, tints of ruby, schorl and amethyst etc. World-famous designer Philippe Starck (in particular yacht style) says that yacht design mustn't be "vulgar" statements of wealth and power, but be in harmony with the sea and nature. He created renowned avangard Motor Yacht A for Andrey Melnichenko (one of the richest businessmen of Russia). Philippe Starck says that this boat has elegance and intelligence, it doesn't try to show the money. He also created Venus yacht for Steve Jobs;

- selecting furniture, lighting and accents you should give preference to timeless and placid shapes and decoration without alien forms. Such furniture and lights can be related to coastal living, sea cruise, navigation and exploration, fishing, traditional sport and rest etc. But modern industrial design has basic tendency to merging of different styles. Let's take for example popular fusion style interiors or eclectic style interiors. So coastal style interiors have a right to adopt foreign elements of interior design: for example colonial style furniture or elegant pieces of authentic or replica ethnic style like vases, lanterns, rugs and tapestry, chests, statuettes, panels, masks, fans and so on. It's quite naturally because exploration of sea and oceans was connected with conquest of new lands with original art traditions. The finishing of furniture and textile solutions should have natural color, texture and pattern. You should cautiously use synthetic materials especially plastics to achieve finesse fusion interior design or otherwise harmony and dialog of civilization and ages can be destroyed;
